                                                                                                              By Daniel

Buddy found Daniel's painting outside drying in the sun and decided to make a snack out of it! Sorry Daniel!
                             Model Magic "8 Balls"
Caitlin helped out by filling each baby food jar with water.
Next, each student wrote fortune teller words on foam squares.
I glued each of the pieces into a cube using my glue gun.
Students selected a color model magic ball and formed a pinch pot around the glass jar and decorated it.
Before I closed up the glass jar I placed the form cube into the water.
                          Mini Van Goghs-ages 4-8
                         Dinosaur and Shell Fossils,
                   Wood Sculptures, Dinosaur Painting

Dinosaur and Shell Fossils made of model magic. Easy and fun...as a connection to the dinosaur invention, each student used a toy dinosaur and shells, pressed it into the colored model magic making an impression.

After discussing 3-D forms, several wooden shapes were placed one on top of the other and glued using wood glue.
After the glue dried for a little while, metallic paint was used to cover the wooden sculptures and allowed to dry.

                                              One last painting by Alex!!

You have been wonderful to work with!!!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!!!!     Ms.Michelle

Invention and Imagination Week

Thursday-Georgia O'Keeffe Flowers
Big Van Goghs -Morning Class
Kids learned about how Georgia painted huge flowers and shells as the subject in many of her paintings.

These are the images we looked at:

First we drew an outline of an "imaginary flower" using pencil. Using any paint color and a "thin brush" we outlined again. Next we filled the flower in in using a "fat" brush.

Dinosaur Invention- Mini Van Goghs-Afternoon class

After discussing different dinosaurs and how we know so much about them because of fossils, we also realized that there may be undiscovered dinosaurs too! We pretended to be archaeologists discovering a "new" dinosaur!  First we "invented" this new dinosaur using a construction paper collage for the body and painted the background in using "Skinny and Fat" paint brushes. To avoid drips we needed to remember to "dip and wipe" each time.

Selecting colored construction paper:

Planning the composition:

Gluing, painting, and finally it's dry ! ( almost! )

We had a great time today, the kids are so creative!!
One more day to go!!

OCEAN WEEK CONTINUED....Morning Class

FRIDAY - BIG VAN GOGHS

The boys used neon colored acrylic paint to cover their sea creatures.

After a discussion of  DEEP, DEEP, DEEP OCEAN Fish the boys created fish bowls containing fish that produce their own light (bioluminescent). VERY COOL!
