Getting Ready for Caitlin's Pinkalicious Party!

I just Love this picture of me in preschool! I think it's my Fifth Birthday but it wouldn't make sence because I started  Kindergarten when I was still 5! Anyway, This is the source of my cupcake in a cone inspiration.

It's complete!! Thunder the Tiger is alive!!!

I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or the moms helping?
It's was incredible how fast it all went. Within two hours, each of the 59, 5th graders helped place at least one bottle cap in place on this 6' x 6' sheet of plywood. The rest was done by the mom volunteers. Laying flat on the table it looked nice. Not until it was held up could you really see it come to life.

"Thunder" the bottle cap Mural is almost complete!

After the board was primed 2X and painted white 2X,
it was ready for the sketch.

Next, I painted the tiger orange which made it look more like a bear cub then a tiger.

Finally, tonight I added on the blue paint. Now it looks more like a tiger.
One of the reflections of the eye didn't  match the other, so I painted it over and will add the reflection in the other eye later.

Friday night the final and most important part will occur. Bottle caps will be glued on with the help of the 5th grade the "graduating" class. My son Aidan happens to be one of those moving on to Madison Middle School. Knowing all his classmates will be working on this mural makes it more exciting and a great motivation for me. So much of what I do every day is for someone else's children. Which is great but this time I get to help with one of my own! Can't wait to post pictures of Friday night!!

One Month before Art Camp by Ms. Michelle begins!!

My daughter Caitlin is my first student in the new art space. My husband is in the process of  moved his wood shop to a different location freeing up a nice space for my art room. I've been waiting for this for years!! Little by little his equipment has been moved out and the space cleaned. I've been using my dinning room as an art room and teaching classes out of the kitchen for years not. As soon as school ends, I will have more time to complete my new art room just in time for ART CAMP!!
