A Pocket for Courturoy

This week I will be visiting Caitlin's preschool class and doing a project with her class which is made up of 3 year old children. Courturoy will to go along with their unit in Bears which  has been what they have been studying during the last two weeks.

What a Whoot!!!

Here are half of the Owl Collages from my Kindergarten class. They come out great! Three weeks in all one hour class. So glad I tried them out! Next year maybe I'll do them with all the Kindergarten Classes!

Seanie turned 7 this week. Tuesday March 13th to be exact! He was so excited and had an awesome week! Sean had everyday counted down for the last month in anticipation of his Birthday. Tuesday I came in to school and Sean and a friend got to pass out the cupcakes I finished only moments before coming into school. In the evening we had Julian's pizza Sean's favorite meal along with a delicious cake he picked out from Purdy Bakery. Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fudge!  My special moments with Sean was when I brought out his baby books and we reminisced of his first days. Naturally he couldn't fall asleep until 10:00 or so!

Eric Carle Inspired Owl

Over the last three years or so I've grown to love Eric Carle and his Collages you find in so many of his wonderful books he's illustrated! I also Love Owls! I have yet to see any owl collages in his books.
So for my next collage project I decided to have a group of younger Kindergartners create owls like the one above using paper that they created using layers of paint and a wooden stick to scratch texture into. Can't wit to see how they all turn out!!

Spring Is on its way!!

What a nice weekend! I could feel that Spring is coming...not just because of my allergies but it's been just warm enough for the kids to go outside and play ball. They got dad to go out and toss a couple of balls and Grandpa Bruce came over and did the same with the boys. Caitlin wanted to swing out in the backyard which by the way thanks to Sil she is now pumping all by herself!! ALL of our Girl Scout Cookies have arrived and it's time to start munching!

Sean helping with Grandma's Fire!
Our weekend away was great! So many wonderful things to see and do up state if you appreciate the mountains and what nature has to offer! Dad found it relaxing to just hang out inside standing and reading his iPad . I found a little bit of time to scrapbook while the girls were playing. Ashley and Brittany played with Caitlin for hours at a time. Whatever she wanted to play the girls were right there doing it with her. Our neighbors Phill and Jenn and their children Madeline and Ben come up twice a year. Madeline brought a friend from Atlanta named Izzy. They all hung out and were so darn polite whenever I offered them something to eat, I just couldn't stand it. That Southern politeness I wish it would rub off on my kids!  Aidan was in his glory with Ben who is a year younger. They all drove on the golf cart even though it was like 30 degrees and windy. Sunday some of the neighbors went hiking up Plattsvilles Rock. The men cut down trees by the dam and had a bonfire to burn the wood. Something about a fire always attracts the boys. Sean was happy to just sit on the coach and watch TV with Grandpa Bruce. Sean was with Grandpa Bruce every chance he could. Sean and Bruce drove the cart together which became the highlight of the weekend for Sean. My favorite moment was looking out the slider to see two Bald Eagles flying over the lake to their nest on the opposite side of the cabin. They are so beautiful, it's too bad I didn't have my camera ready!
